Specifically, it is a property millage. All property subject to the millage of Hospital Service District #1 of the Parish of St. Mary, provides the funds, which are used exclusively for the operations of Bayou Bend Health System.
The proposed millage renewal will continue the existing 3.1 mills on property within the district for the purpose of improving, maintaining, and operating Bayou Bend Health System. The renewal period will be 2024-2034. It will generate yearly estimated funds of $647,000.
The specific proposition on the October 14 ballot reads:

No, this is NOT a new tax. It is a renewal. The 10-year millage on this year’s ballot is a continuation of 3.1 mills, meaning a resident with a $100,000 home would pay about $2.58 per month.
In the last millage renewal, we promised that funds from the millage tax would be used “exclusively for improving, maintaining and operating Bayou Bend Health System.” We have kept our promise!
